Pylons and Poplars is the development of a series of poems, not quite haiku, that I started during Ely Writers Day 2018.
The original version:
Flat, stark, nothing to see
Poplars
But a line of poplars far away,
Cathedral towers, clouds and sky.
The second one is a later version that I wrote when I couldn’t find the original. I knew it was something like this, but we’ve gained the pylons and lost the cathedral:
Flat, nothing to see
Pylons and poplars
But pylons and poplars,
Ominous clouds or open skies.
